Oh the cool crisps morning are so wonderful. Summer is over so you can relax on taking care of the lawn.....NO think again! It's important to give it some special attention in the fall for that beautiful green lush grass in the SPRING!

Fall maintenance is important for oxygen and nutrients to survive the winter. The most important job this fall:

  • Proper mowing: just because the days are getting cooler does not mean your grass does no need to be mowed. Keeping the height at 2 1/2 inches to get the proper amount of sun, light, water and oxygen.

  • Weeding: getting rid of the weeds in the fall will lessen spring weeds.

  • Raking leaves: getting the leaves off the ground before winter sets in is really IMPORTANT! If leaves stay on the ground through winter time will choke your grass by reducing water evaporation, harbor mold and fungus, and provide a breeding ground for insects/bugs. Then diseases from trees can transfer from tree leaves to the ground then kill your grass.

  • Dethatching: if you have not been mulching your clippings, thatch build up will choke out your grass.

  • Aerating: this provides great root growth creating that thick rich spring grass.

  • Fertilize: do this right before the first frost for proper fuel for the winter.

  • Pruning: prune dead and diseased shrubs or trees, this will keep them looking healthy and grow beautiful in the spring!
